Alondra Carbajal, is bringing Latin culture everywhere through her beautiful designs!
When we talk about design trends, we have to mention our love for personalizing everything we own and our obsession with retro vibes. Now, imagine mixing both and having a classic 80s item that also represents us as Latinas. Wouldn’t that be AWESOME?
Well, we have great news: It exists! It’s incredible and was created by a young woman who found a way to celebrate Latina girls and send a powerful message: “We are here, and we are very proud.”
Here’s her story:
Alondra Carbajal, a 28-year-old of Salvadoran descent, is the mastermind behind Blank Tag, a company that makes unique stickers. Alongside her boyfriend, Alondra creates stickers that represent our culture: pan dulce, fruta con chile, a plate of tacos, a bag of churros with sugar, chicharrones with salsa, arepas, piñatas, or whatever you love about being Latina—Alondra has already created it for you.
The idea came during a trip to Japan, where Alondra found a sticker shop with fun designs that reflected Japanese daily life. The locals bought the stickers because they resonated with their lives and made them feel proud. Seeing this, Alondra decided that her culture and roots deserved the same recognition, and she got to work with her hands and heart.
They started selling the stickers exclusively online and gradually began attending fairs and events where they could interact with their customers for the first time. At that moment, Alondra realized the impact of her stickers: the love with which girls stick them on their phones, luggage, or laptops, the pride they feel, and often, the nostalgia of seeing their childhood drawn in a sticker.
Getting to this point wasn’t easy. Alondra faced discrimination for being Latina, but she persevered to become the woman who now helps many girls feel proud of their roots through her creations.
“I went to a university with mostly American students, which was something I wasn’t used to. One day, in an Immigration class, we watched a movie about a Salvadoran girl who was the daughter of immigrants. It was amazing because, for the first time, I saw my story reflected on screen, and for a moment, I didn’t feel so alone. The sad part was when I was waiting for the next class outside the room, and I overheard some classmates mocking how the girl in the movie couldn’t speak English, saying she couldn’t be American if she couldn’t speak the language properly. By mocking her, they were also mocking me.”
Despite not feeling accepted and struggling to find her place for a long time, thanks to her parents and her willpower, Alondra transformed all the negative feelings she received into a way to connect Latina girls with their culture.
“To me, being Latina means being a woman who can’t be stopped, who has all the resources to move forward. Latinas have an unstoppable attitude; tell a Latina she can’t do something, and she’ll prove she can.”
Blank Tag is growing successfully. Several major stores have started ordering large quantities of her stickers, which can be shipped worldwide through online sales.
Alondra clearly doesn’t just sell stickers; she sells love, Latin passion, memories, and a lot of heart. She is a true Cool Latina and an inspiration to all.
